Conduct Disorder

  •  Occurs in 6-16 % of boys and 2-9% of girls younger than 18 years of age

  • Conduct Disorder is characterized by a repetitive pattern of behavior in which the rights of others or the rules are violated.

  • The child manifests several of the following:

 

Answer the following questions:

Aggression to people and animals:

  • Bully

  • Physical fights

  • Uses weapons

  • Physically cruel to people and/or animals

  • Stealing while confronting the victim

  • Forced someone into sexual activity

 Property destruction:

  • Fire setting with the intention of causing damage

  • Deliberately destroyed property

 Deceitfulness or theft:

  • Has broken into houses or cars

  • Has stolen things without confronting the victim

  • Often "cons" others

 Rules violation:

  • Brakes curfew

  • Runs away from home

  • Truancy

 The above cause significant impairment in functioning

 

  If the child manifests several of the above he/she might benefit from psychiatric treatment.
